Scholarships

IAX is pleased to offer several scholarships to celebrate the hard work, sportsmanship, and growth of dancers at our convention.

To redeem your scholarship, be sure to register early and pay any balance by the Early Bird Tuition deadline. Scholarships are not guaranteed at each convention, as they are awarded based on merit. Scholarships are presented at the discretion of faculty at each convention. Please see details below for each type of scholarship.

IAX ELITE

Scholarship recipients are determined collectively by the IAX faculty based on overall performance in all classes throughout the day. The ability to pick up choreography quickly in multiple genres, technical and performance proficiency, work ethic, drive and determination all while demonstrating a kind attitude, genuine desire to learn, and good sportsmanship.

FULL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE MULTI-USE: IAX Elite dancers may attend at many cities as they would like on the 2024 and 2025 tours tuition free;

Assist our renowned faculty (at their discretion);

Gain insight into the dance industry;

Receive an exclusive IAX Elite t-shirt and IAX item from the Pop-Up Shop;

With Early Bird registration, a lunch option is provided;

IAX Elites have a page on our website where headshots, names, and studios are featured;

Be announced as an IAX Elite on our social media with a personalized IAX ad (headshot, name, and studio);

Be a role model for others and serve as an ambassador by sharing IAX photos and experiences on social media.

OUTSTANDING ARTIST

Scholarship recipients are determined collectively by the IAX faculty based on overall performance in all classes throughout the day. Criteria are similar to that of the IAX Elite as dancers need to demonstrate qualities such as: technical skill, comprehension of the choreography, genuine desire to learn, and the ability to perform well in multi genres. As with all scholarships, good sportsmanship and a kind attitude is required.

Half scholarship ($85.50 value) to be used in one city on the 2025 tour.

CAPTIVATING ARTIST

This scholarship is chosen during individual classes by that particular instructor. This scholarship is based on qualities such as: personal growth throughout the class, effort, choreography comprehension, technical skill, performance, attitude, and sportsmanship.

$50 scholarship to be used in one city on the 2025 tour.

EXCELLENCE IN TECHNIQUE

This scholarship is chosen during technique class by that particular instructor. This scholarship is based on personal growth throughout the class, effort, willingness to try new technique methods with a positive attitude, and sportsmanship.

$50 scholarship to be used in one city on the 2025 tour.

The number of scholarships may vary from city to city. The faculty will determine which scholarships, and how many, will be awarded.

SAN FRAN TAP FESTIVAL FULL SCHOLARSHIP

The San Francisco Tap Festival is a weekend-long event featuring classes with world-renowned professional tap dancers, history lessons, a jam session, a cutting contest as well as the “Shufflin’ The Fog Away” concert featuring our all-star faculty and talented students accompanied by live music.

Produced by Melissa Tannús, Brazilian tap dancer seen on So You Think You Can Dance, the festival’s goal is to create an inclusive space for the tap community to connect, learn, inspire, dance and most importantly, have fun while celebrating this wonderful American art form.

The San Fran Tap Fest welcomes everyone: professionals and advanced tap dancers who are looking to be challenged, beginning tap dancers who are just starting their journey, senior tap dancers who are passionate about dancing and even tap enthusiasts who are just looking to watch an incredible show. We are happy to offer scholarships for our 2024 edition which will be given to students who stand out in tap class that have the “it” factor.

SCHOLARSHIP REDEMPTION INFORMATION

Scholarships earned during the 2024 season may be applied to the 2025 season. 

Scholarships are non-transferrable. In order to redeem any scholarship, dancers must be registered (and pay any balance due) prior to the Early Bird Tuition deadline.

Multiple scholarships to a single dancer cannot be combined for attendance at one convention. Instead, the highest value scholarship will be applied; any leftover funds can be applied to future conventions.

If dancers are participating with a studio, studio owners should email us at info@iaxdance.com to redeem the scholarship upon registration. If the dancer will be attending as an independent, we ask that the parent or guardian please email us to redeem the scholarship at the time of registration.

If the scholarship was earned by a dancer attending with a studio and the dancer wishes to apply the scholarship amount as an independent or with another studio, we must receive written notice from the original studio owner at the time of registration and/or balance payment.

Scholarships earned during the 2022 season may be applied to the 2023 season. 

To redeem any of the above scholarships, early bird registration is required, and any balance due must be paid in full by the early bird deadline.

Scholarships are non-transferrable.

IAX scholarships are awarded at IAX events, BravO competition, and at some in-house intensives and workshops. Multiple scholarships to a single dancer cannot be combined for attendance at one convention. Instead, the highest value scholarship will be applied; any leftover funds can be applied to future conventions within the valid time frame. The multi-city discount for a dancer can be combined with a scholarship.

If dancers are participating with a studio, studio owners should email us at info@iaxdance.com to redeem the scholarship upon registration completion, but before the studio makes the final payment. If the dancer will be attending as an independent, we ask that the parent or guardian please email us to redeem the scholarship at the time of registration.

If the scholarship was earned by a dancer attending with a studio and the dancer wishes to apply the scholarship amount as an independent or with another studio, we must receive written notice from the original studio owner at the time of registration and/or balance payment. A release is required for the scholarship to be applied.
